Elul 25

Our Father our King, sound the Shofar for the deliverance of Your people, and let every knee bow and every tongue confess that Yeshua is Lord.

Sounds often warn us of danger. When we hear a car honk, we know someone is trying to warn us of potential danger. The smoke alarms in our houses warn us of the potential threat of fire. Our alarm clocks warn us of the danger of getting up too late.

However, not all sounds are a precursor to danger. For instance, when you were young, the sound of the ice cream truck coming down your street meant something joyous was about to happen (providing your mom would give you money to get a sweet ice-cold treat).

Likewise, the sound of the shofar has different meanings according to the patterns of the blasts. I am looking forward to the moment when the King of kings bursts through the clouds and appears in all His glory with all his angels and heavenly host, as the shofar sounds announcing the establishment of His everlasting kingdom. The whole world will stand in awe as His promised, complete deliverance from all evil becomes our new reality. No more pain, death, and despair; but only joy, life, and completeness. What excitement and exhilaration will fill my soul as I bow down along with all mankind proclaiming Yeshua Lord of Lords and King of kings! I cannot wait for that sound to vibrate throughout the world.

Yeshua HaMashiach, with my knees bowed, my tongue loudly professes that You are Lord. Today I fix my eyes on the assurance of Your deliverance of Israel and all creation. Today I choose to focus on Your current reign as King of all kings, and Ruler of heaven and earth. I tune my ear to the sound of Your call, whether it is the blast of the shofar, or the gentle whisper of the Ruach HaKodesh. Keep me from the temptation to give into distraction or temptation. Empower me to not dismiss what You intend me to shema – to hear and obey.
